Cultural appropriation
My girlfriend was born in Japan but only lived there when she was really young. Her parents aren’t Japanese but they lived in Japan for ten years, her father in the navy, her mother was a school teacher. They both spoke japanese.
She’s really proud to be from there and does her best to respect the culture. But can she even really be part of it as a white girl navy brat, ect? I tried to tell her she can’t just take the good of a culture and call herself part of it but it’s interesting to me.
